auto express tyre test

  1. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/total_tyre_guide/213177/tyre_test.html

The latest tyre tests from auto express, these are the best selling tyres, so no Goodyear F1s, but Proxes T1Rs are in there, along with Hydra grips, and vresdestein Sportrac 3s

  2. looks as tho vredestein are competing well in premium and mid level price segments then :)
  3. Useful test this becuase they dont focus on ultraperformance like Evo and Autocar.
  4. Interesting results. I'd never have considered the likes of Maxxis, Matador and Fulda but probably would have taken a punt on the Pirelli's or Yoko's :o
  5. Mondeo owners of the world rejoice!!!! :p
  6. Im in need of two tyres soon, so may price up hydra grips and the vresdestein Sportrac 3s as i am currently running proxes t1rs and i found the report useful.
  7. It is but it could have been better if they used something ultra performance as a benchmark, then we could see for those wanting to save money how the lower performance tyres genuinely stack up from a cost performance point of view.
  8. No budget tyres?! :p

My front tyres - costs £37.50 each - Tagar. Anything well below £100 mark must be that bad?!

  9. Except that it is in Auto Express , so it is complete made up rubbish.
  10. No Falken :(
  11. ah vindicated in sticking with the contis

Always felt like the best all-round tyre and last bloody ages.

  12. I got Champiro's on mine, £25 a tyre... :D

They seem better in the wet than my avon's did...

EDIT: Uniroyal Rainsports came out quite well... I've got them on the back and they seem good IMO.

  13. Glad to see the Michelin came out well, ended up buying a pair last week
after a flat/damaged tyre plus they were a decent price £82 a tyre fitted
    205/50/16 :D

    Andy

  14. Those tyres will look nothing like that in the flesh. :D
  15. How are you finding them? thats the size i need too, will either go with proxes t1rs again, these have been really good, the vredesteins or michelins
  16. chrislusty - how much did you pay for T1R's in 205/50/16?
  17. Going back to February i paid £136 for two fronts, this included balancing and tracking checked. this was with a local toyo dealer, his prices were better than internet prices!! the toyos are brilliant, but they dont last long, saying that my fronts have done around 12k miles now.
  18. that's pretty good - i'll look out for them when i've killed these GT champiros that were on the car when i bought it. if nothing else, caerphilly isnt too far from me :)
  19. Interesting to compare the stopping distances with the Highway Code versions:

    Highway Code
    60mph 73m
    50mph 53m

    Reality
    BF Goodrich 60mph (dry) 35.7m
    Kumho Ecsta 50mph (wet) 24m

So even in the wet, a good choice of tyre can more than halve the HC's published numbers.

  20. Its called valley tyres in pontypridd, not sure on their current prices though.
